Weiler Abrasives, a global leader in surface conditioning solutions, has launched its Abrasive Cost Savings Calculator, a free online tool that helps manufacturers and metal fabricators estimate potential annual savings from improvements in abrasive use and labour time.

Users enter their current abrasive usage, abrasive costs and labour information, then model how changes could affect annual costs. Results show estimated abrasive cost savings, labour hours recovered and total annual savings based on the user’s assumptions, highlighting the impact beyond wheel price alone.

“The price of a wheel is only part of what an operation spends on cutting and grinding,” said Nate Schmid, Director, Global Marketing at Weiler Abrasives. “Labor is often the largest contributor to total cost per part, and the calculator helps users see what reducing that time could mean over a year.”

The calculator supports Weiler’s Beyond Sharp approach, which combines high-performance, industrial-grade abrasives with application expertise to help manufacturers improve abrasive productivity and reduce total operating costs.

“Our abrasive experts can help operations turn that potential into measurable improvements, whether through a simple product change or a different process that saves time by eliminating a step,” added Schmid.

Users can share their calculator results with a Weiler expert to start a conversation about finding savings in their fabricating operation. Through the Weiler Consumable Productivity (WCP) program, experts can evaluate applications, test improvements and validate potential savings.
