Machitech’s Pipe Cut
Machine runs on the NX4 Controller, the same in-house controller used across all Machitech cutting tables and pipe cutting systems. On the Pipe Cut, the NX4 gives operators full control of the Hypertherm X-Definition® plasma process and scribing from a single interface. From one screen, they change settings, monitor the full state of the machine, run diagnostics and edit programs, with guided wizards to simplify operation.
The NX4 integrates native Hypertherm plasma process control, guiding operators through consumable selection by material, thickness and amperage. The machine runs in fully automatic mode, with manual controls always available: axis jogging, zero setting, feed rate override and torch height control. A built-in G-code viewer and editor lets operators review and modify any loaded program directly at the controller. Guided wizards handle process changeover and mid-program resumption. The NX4 also provides full diagnostics with on-demand remote access.
The Pipe Cut uses Hypertherm’s XPR300 X-Definition® plasma source and is programmed with PypeServer Enterprise software. PypeServer connects directly with common CAD and BIM platforms, so pipe parts and assemblies move from design to fabrication without manual programming. This shortens setup time and reduces errors from file conversions and data re-entry. Operators can also print custom part labels for identification downstream.
The machine also processes pipe and tube from 2 to 48 inches in diameter, with cutting zone lengths from 21 to 42 feet. A floating chuck system prevents pipe slippage, and pneumatic support rollers keep the pipe supported and centred during rotation. Motorized infeed, outfeed and transfer conveyors are available as options. The machine delivers cutting speeds up to 500 IPM, traverse speeds up to 800 IPM, repeatability of 0.001 in. and positioning accuracy of 0.003 in.
